HEMA-Free & TPO-Free Gel: What Changed in 2025
Two ingredient questions every gel brand now gets from buyers and nail technicians
The EU TPO ban
TPO (trimethylbenzoyl diphenylphosphine oxide) is a photoinitiator that helps gel cure under UV/LED light. The EU classified it as a CMR 1B reproductive toxicant and added it to the list of prohibited cosmetic ingredients from 1 September 2025, in all settings including salons. TPO is still permitted in the United States, and UK restrictions were expected to follow in 2026.
Why HEMA-free matters
HEMA (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) is a common gel monomer and a well-known cause of allergic contact dermatitis among nail technicians and clients. HEMA-free systems use alternative monomers to lower that risk, which is why many salons and retailers now ask for them by name.

What is the MOQ for private label gel polish?
Our minimum order is 100 units per shade or product, with 4–6 weeks from approved samples to finished goods. Larger runs get volume pricing.
What is BIAB, and can you make it under my brand?
BIAB (builder in a bottle) is a soft builder gel applied with a brush to strengthen natural nails and add structure. We manufacture rubber-base and fibre-base BIAB-style builders under your brand, with adjustable viscosity, elasticity and cure profile.
Do you make HEMA-free gel polish?
Yes. HEMA-free versions of our soft gel, builder and top-coat platforms are available for brands that want to reduce the risk of allergic reactions for technicians and clients.
Is TPO banned in gel polish?
TPO has been prohibited in all cosmetic products in the European Union since 1 September 2025, including professional nail gels. It is still permitted in the United States. For EU- and UK-bound products we develop TPO-free formulas on request; custom TPO-free development carries a one-time R&D fee, quoted with your project.
What documents come with each order?
Every batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis, Safety Data Sheet and full INCI ingredient list. We also support product information files for international markets. Products are made in an FDA-registered cosmetic facility (FEI 3031525994).
Can I test your gels before ordering?
Yes. The professional gel sample kit includes 18 samples — soft gel/BIAB, hard gel builders, base and top coats and specialty formulas — for $75 with shipping included, and the $75 is credited toward your first production order.
How long does custom gel development take?
Lab samples are usually ready in 1–2 weeks after your technical brief, followed by stability testing and a pilot batch. Standard production then takes 4–6 weeks from final approval.
Do you manufacture products other than gel?
